What Happened at Money20/20 Europe in 2021

Last year, the event’s agenda was divided into five themes:

•   The what: Creating products you can’t imagine

•   The who: Defining a new cast

•   The how: Developing a regenerative gene

•   The where: Designing an intelligent environment

•   The what next: Finding problems for solutions

For instance, Sanjib Kalita, Guppy CEO & Money20/20 Editor in Chief moderated the first talk, which featured Daniel Marovitz, Senior Vice President, FinTech, Booking.com as the headline speaker to participate in “The what: Creating products you can’t imagine” series.

This talk focused on looking at how it is possible to turn a payment from a moment of the transaction into a long-lasting relationship. Marovitz shared his insights about the topic while giving examples of how they work to add value to their customers at Booking.com.

Another interesting discussion was around a recurring topic: “What role should banks play in the financial services industry of the future?” The lead speaker for this event was Ana Botín, Executive Chairwoman at Santander Group and PagoNxt. Botín shared her opinion about trends in European regulation and how financial institutions would benefit from reforms during economic downturns.

Interesting debates and thought-provoking questions ensued, opening the space for more to come. “The European game is on,” as announced by the 2022 agenda, but what should we anticipate?
