Fintech companies cater for the unbanked

Fintech companies are transforming the financial sector all over the world. In Brazil, they play a huge role in the financial inclusion of the unbanked population. Our CEO, Ralf Germer, interviewed for the Jornal das Dez, by GloboNews, discussing the situation of the unbanked in Brazil. Check it out (video in Portuguese):

According to recent data, there are 45 million unbanked in Brazil. This means nearly one-third of the population over 16 years old do not have a bank account and, therefore, do not have access to basic banking services, such as money transfers.

This does not mean, however, that his population is not economically active: the unbanked transaction BRL 817 billion annually. Over 80% belong to social classes C, D, and E, and half borrow a credit card when they need to pay for a purchase in installments.

In order to better assist this population, PagBrasil created Boleto Flash®: a boleto bancário that allows payment confirmation in less than one hour. In addition, the company also developed the exclusive PEC Flash®, which allows customers to pay for their online purchases in any of the 13,000 lottery agencies in the country. “It is important we create solutions that benefit all Brazilians, not only those who have a bank account or credit card”, explained Germer.
