Highlights of Money 20/20 Asia

Published on 03/28/2019 - Updated on 09/26/2019

Last week, our team exhibited at Money 20/20 Asia in Singapore. After attending several editions of Money 20/20 destination events, Singapore was a logical first exhibit location for us, due to our local presence in the country and strong partnerships in the region. In addition, our CEO, Ralf Germer, had the opportunity to join other players at two panel discussions:

•    Coping with compliance: Regulatory compliance is a foundational aspect of any financial business. In this panel, business founders shared their experiences about how to stay on top of relationships, as well as legal and technical developments. The discussion was moderated by Nikola Pavesic, Head of Partnerships at Nikkei. In addition to Ralf, panelists included Manish Sansi, Co-founder and COO at Xen; Livia Benisty, Head of Financial Crime at ComplyAdvantage; and Joey Kim, CEO and Founder at PeopleFund.

•    Recruiting talent and building a team: Recruiting, developing and retaining talent is a constant challenge for founders. What are startups and financial institutions doing to attract talent? Shortages are acute and the talent challenges vary by country, but what skillset will be in highest demand and what are the next steps to meet the gap? Ralf, alongside Prajit Nanu, CEO and Co-founder at InstaReM; Steve Vickers, CEO at Thunes; and Nicki Ramsay, CEO at CardUp; answered these and other questions in the panel moderated by Olivier Legrand, Managing Director, APAC at LinkedIn.

The event was a success, and from March 19-21, Singapore received thousands of visitors from over 70 countries, the most influential speakers discussing topics from the latest in challenger banks to the newest technologies in cyber security, blockchain, compliance, and more. Money 20/20 Asia serves as a space where industry leaders can network and connect over the critical developments shaping the future of money in Asia and to grow and futureproof their businesses.
