Brazilian ecommerce grew 29% in 2013, with a total revenue volume of BRL 31 billion (USD 14.4 billion) according to Abecs (Associação Brasileira das Empresas de Cartões de Crédito e Serviços). The country features 105 million internet users according to IBOPE, a leading research company in LATAM. This puts Brazil as the 5th country in the global ranking of internet users. The 53 million Brazilians that already use the internet for online purchases are becoming more confident and loyal toward electronic channels. In 2019, Abecs forecasts a 27% growth in e-commerce. World Cup and presidential elections in 2014 may, however, alter these predictions.
Internet expansion and innovative mobility solutions shows be the main drivers towards Brazilian ecommerce growth for this year. PagBrasil estimates that national credit cards with installments, followed by the boleto bancário, will continue as the favorite payment methods, while online bank transfers in addition to debit card payments will increase their respective shares.
