Groundbreaking Direct Checkout Now Available with PagBrasil’s Shopify Plugin

Published on 11/05/2018 - Updated on 11/22/2019

November 2018 – PagBrasil is thrilled to introduce its upgraded Shopify plugin with groundbreaking direct checkout functionality. Since its launch in 2015, PagBrasil’s development team has worked closely with leading merchants to continually fine-tune the plugin. The direct checkout, also called a transparent checkout, provides e-commerce websites with a seamless payment experience, which is essential to maximize payment conversion rates.

PagBrasil’s Shopify plugin was the first out of the company’s extensions to comprehend all Brazilian payment methods available on its payment platform: local credit and debit cards, boleto bancário and online banking transfer from four major Brazilian banks – Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Itaú, and Banrisul. Even Boleto Flash®, the only boleto solution in Brazil that provides payment confirmation in less than two hours and comes with a responsive layout, was made available for merchants using the extension instantly after it was introduced as a payment option. In addition, the plugin is also fully responsive, providing a frictionless payment experience on any screen resolution.

Shopify is one of the fastest growing omni-channel commerce platforms in the world. Founded in 2004, the company has conquered the space among the leading players and currently powers over 600,000 businesses in approximately 175 countries. Thanks to its straight-forward integration, Shopify is the favorite option among small and medium-sized businesses. The platform has kept up with the evolving trends and technologies of this digital commerce era and was the pioneer in presenting groundbreaking additions such as social shopping, which makes it easier for merchants to monetize their social media traffic.

“We are delighted to present this major revamping of our plugin for Shopify”, says Ralf Germer, co-CEO and co-founder at PagBrasil. “The payment moment is a significant cause of cart drop-out. Shopify is a great platform and earlier this year its backend was translated into Brazilian Portuguese, which goes to show that they see the potential in the Brazilian market. However, it has a limitation for third-party payment solutions integrated with them, forcing a checkout redirection, which is a proven barrier to maximize conversions. Other than Shopify’s native payment solution, which is not optimized for the Brazilian market, no other player outside of Brazil has managed to introduce a direct checkout.” Mr. Germer adds that “PagBrasil is the first Brazilian payment platform to develop a solution in-house, giving us total flexibility for agile tweaks the plugin might need in the future.”

*At the moment, the direct checkout option only allows merchants to make credit card and boleto bancário available as payment methods. Our team is working on adding the remaining payment options.
